To see Spaz is one thing, to meet Spaz is a LOT of bruising. She is an awesome dog that was just in the wrong home. Spaz comes from Delaware and her former owner had her sent away for training. When she returned he did not follow up on her training and she became a hand full. Spaz has a LOT of energy and needs a direction. Spaz was sent to a shelter in Delaware and the staff NEVER put her up for adoption due to her being completely black and the owner had 'papers' on Spaz. They did not want her to become a show dog OR the possibility of her being kept as a 'guard' dog. Remember she has a LOT of energy and for anyone who has met her they can attest to that. LOL
See we are owned by 3 German Shepherd dogs and they have all been trained. Jakey and Baylor were trained by a friend of mine that used the same methods as Perry and his staff. When Spaz came around my girlfriend had just had her first child and they were preparing to move back to Texas. This left me in a bad spot for training. I don't use clicker or treat training. I believe in the pack mentality and I am the alpha. TRY to explain that to the typical family pet owner and you will be screamed at!!!!! I met Tracie and Lish through one of our rescues and I was telling Tracie about Spaz and her needing a job or she will will go nuts and become bored. This is not fair to the dog but I was on the look for someone to help me. Tracie and I talked and I watched the video on the school. I LOVED it immediately. Everyone believes in the same methods as I do. Oh My God I FOUND other 'normal' people. :)
Since then we started taking Spaz and she has done GREAT!!!!! She knew her commands but now we want to work on her bite work and she is doing well with that. I KNOW I KNOW I have to get to more classes. SORRY!!!!! :) Spaz has come a LONG way and the staff is amazing. Even my husband goes and does NOT feel stupid. He can ask ANY question and it is ALWAYS answered with a VERY detailed description of what is going to be expected. The dogs are NEVER beat down or talked down too. The staff works with individuals, if that is what is called for. I also hear that the staff's singing is not too bad. :)
We are going to be bringing Baylor in soon, as soon as college tuition is paid for, so she can start with basics and then work into agility. I tell people ALL the time about the school and how nice it is to go and feel like a friend and not just a client.
